Breakfast at Cayenne, South Kemang

For introvert people like me “me time” is important. For once in a while, I like to spend time alone to recharge my energy. Most of the time I like to spend time alone at home, but sometimes go out alone also works. This time I want to explore Kemang area, go for window shopping and have a decent breakfast.

Breakfast at Cayenne

Known for its trendy shops, good dining scene and bars, Kemang houses some of South Jakarta’s best-kept secrets. First opened in 2015 Breakfast at Cayenne is not a newcomer in South Kemang dining scenes. The location of the restaurant adjoining with Cayenne (a local furniture store) makes Breakfast at Cayenne not too prominent.

If you never heard about this place there’s a chance you never notice that inside this furniture store you can find a sweet little cafe. As you enter the room, you will be greeted by delicious cake and tart that sits nicely behind the counter. At the front of the cafe, you’ll find special of the day scrabbled on the chalkboard.

The cafe is pretty small but not cramped, they have indoor and outdoor area. If you come here in the morning or evening the outdoor seating is an ideal place to enjoy your meal and coffee.

Breakfast at Cayenne Menu

As its name implies, Breakfast at Cayenne serves an all-day breakfast menu. The menu is limited and simple but quite diverse. From western style breakfast to Indonesian popular breakfast, I’m sure you’ll find something you like on the menu.

No breakfast is complete without egg and a good cup of coffee to start the morning. Salmon Cake with poached egg, beef bacon and lemon aioli sounds good. Salmon patty serves as a base then topped with beef bacon and a poached egg, finished with Hollandaise sauce concocted from egg yolks and lemon. Served with a side of salad and homemade potato chips.

The egg is cooked to golden ooziness, the broken yolk and light Hollandaise ready to be mop up with the salmon patty and fried beef bacon. Even though the salad looks a bit wilted when it comes but it still enjoyable and the potato chips are dangerously addictive.

I simply couldn’t leave without sampling their sweet treats. I was curious about their pineapple upside down cake and sticky date pudding, unfortunately, that two menu is not available at the time. After browsing the menu, I opted for Raspberry Crumble and Cappucino.

The coffee here is pretty good, it was well made with a subtle aroma and it arrived with a perfectly heart-shaped latte art. The raspberry with a crumble and almond slices is such a nice combo. The crumble was buttery with a slight crunch from almond slices, it was deliciously tangy and sweet.
