One of Jakarta’s Hidden Oasis: Courtyard Cafe at The Hermitage

Afternoon tea in Courtyard Cafe at The Hermitage

“Being a woman is a fate Sabina did not choose. What we have not chosen we cannot consider either our merit or our failure. Sabina believed that she had to assume the correct attitude to her unchosen fate. To rebel against being born a woman seemed as foolish to her as to take pride in it.”~The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera

I always love afternoon tea rituals. For me, there is an unwritten rule that afternoon tea shouldn’t involve a man because I often associated afternoon tea as ritual and ceremony to recharge my feminine energy. It’s a precious moment to escape from the stresses of everyday life and share a story with women companion.

The Hermitage Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is a fairly new hotel located in the upscale residential area, on the corner of Jalan Cilacap, Menteng. It just a walking distance from an open-air antique market in Jalan Surabaya.

Originally built in 1923 this Dutch colonial building has a lot of history. This historical building was used as a Dutch telecommunication centre. And later after the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, it served as National Education Ministry office and Directorate General of the Ministry of Culture and Education.
